About Your Editor

Meet the Jackie behind Jack

Hi there! I'm Jaclyn (she/her), and I can't wait to work with you on your writing!

I'm a bookworm through and through, and I'm usually reading a cute, queer romcom or something haunting and Gothic. I want to see the world, but I also want to run away to a tiny cabin in a forest..

I grew up loving stories, so much so that I would read when I was supposed to be getting ready for school. As I became older, I started studying stories and analyzing them for deeper meanings. Now, I want to help you bring your story into the world (whether it's creative or the story of your data).

Editing Philosophy.

There is a long, racist, and gendered history to English grammar and the way it's taught. The feedback I provide situates writing within Standard American English because this is the widely accepted form of universities, academic journals, and publishers. However, my editing is informed by compassion and humanity. I follow the Conscious Style Guide for editing best practices.

Freelance

In 2017, I graduated summa cum laude with my BA in English. During my time as a student, I worked as a peer tutor for undergraduate and graduate students from a range of fields. This is when I realized how much I enjoy helping others improve their writing.

In 2019, I graduated with my MA in English with a concentration in multicultural and transnational literatures. My research focused on rhetorical confusion in transnational literature. At the same time, I worked for the writing center at TWU in an administrative role.

For the past six years, I have served as a Graduate Formatter/Reader for two public universities. In this position, I have provided formatting and editing feedback for thesis and dissertation students from a variety of areas of study.

From Texas A&M to Wilmington University, I have editing and formatted documents for some amazing PhD, DNP, and MA students. I have also completed freelance editing for organizations such as Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity.
